Gosh, those Dead Island Riptide trophies definitely brought tears to my eyes for all the wrong reasons it was so janky. Dead Island Riptide and its savagely good trailer had the same lack of synchronicity, showcasing a story of a couple who choose to go out of the zombie apocalypse on their own terms - it's striking and tugs at your heartstrings, something the game itself never manages to do. Instead, what players were given was a fun, yet underwhelming, zombie romp that didn't meet everyone's high expectations. The music and raw emotion the trailer showed resonated with so many players and had them hyped up for what looked to be a beautifully tragic story set in a zombie apocalypse.
